St. Martin de Porres Primary and Infant School stands as a beacon of educational excellence in the heart of Gordon Town, St. Andrew. Founded in 1968 by the Catholic Church, our school was named in honour of Saint Martin de Porres, a Dominican lay brother celebrated for his compassion, humility, and unwavering service to those in need. These same values continue to guide our mission today as we nurture and educate the children of our community.
For over five decades, we have served as the educational heartbeat of Gordon Town and the surrounding hillside communities. Our school has built a distinguished reputation, particularly excelling in academic competitions such as the Spelling Bee, while consistently developing skilled and committed educators who make lasting impacts on young lives. We take immense pride in our tradition of excellence and our role as a cornerstone institution in the community.
Today, we are home to 393 students who are lovingly guided by 19 dedicated class teachers and caregivers. Under the leadership of Principal Gillian Haynes Stanton and Vice Principal Imanthia Thompson, we maintain an environment where every child is known by name, valued for their unique gifts, and challenged to reach their full potential. Our school is more than an educational institution—it is a family where learning, faith, and community spirit flourish together.
